BOAT - SHIP - MARINA

Near in the EVAapartments exists a small Marina for the fishermen of Cassiopi region (Piscatorial Shelter of Kassiopi). From there you can launch your ship or your rubber dinghy, to anchor it and to have it as your base of operations for your daily campaigns. There is a launching cradle for ships and boats (ramp). Can thus have your boat or ship near you for your daily cruises in the beaches of Corfu island.

A marina is a port within a well-sheltered harbour where boats and yachts are kept in the water and where basic services and facilities geared to the needs of recreational boating are found.

They often have associated re-fuelling, washing and repair facilities at hand for use by all tenants, and often have small stores and restaurants catering to the needs of the boaters like ice, beverages, and fishing needs. Ship’s chandlers are often found at marinas. Slipways, which are used to get a trailered boat into the water.

SAILING-WINDSURFING

Staying in the EVAapartments is easier to sail or to do windsurfing. You can leave your ship next to the beach (in the apartments' yard) so you don't have to transport the ship each day. Moreover in the sea of northern Corfu the conditions are good enough in order to deal with your favourite sport.

Windsurfing (also called boardsailing) is a sport involving travel over water on a small 2-4.7 meter board powered by wind acting on a single sail. The sail is connected to the board by a flexible joint. The sport is a hybrid between sailing and surfing. The sail board might be considered the most minimalistic version of the modern sailboat, with the major exception that steering is accomplished by the rider tilting the mast and sail or, when planing, carving the board, rather than with a rudder.

Windsurfers can travel over flat water as long as there is enough wind; they can also cut into breaking waves and perform spectacular stunts. Windsurfing can mean a peaceful relaxed pastime on the water to some people, it can be a high-stress high-adrenalin sport to others.

Though windsurfing is possible in winds from 5 kts to 50, the ideal conditions are 15-25 kts.

FISHING

In the evenings or early in the morning you can try your luck with fishing. These times of the day the beach is quite and using a fishing rod or a fishing line you could catch small fishes and -who knows- maybe you are luckier than me ...

Fishing scenes are rarely represented in ancient Greek culture, a reflection of the low social status of fishing. There is a wine cup, dating from 510–500 BC, that shows a boy crouched on a rock with a fishing-rod in his right hand and a basket in his left. In the water below, a rounded object of the same material with an opening on the top. This has been identified as a fish-cage used for keeping live fish, or as a fish-trap. It is clearly not a net. This object is currently in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston^[3].

Pictorial evidence of Roman fishing comes from mosaics which show fishing from boats with rod and line as well as nets. Various species such as conger, lobster, sea urchin, octopus and cuttlefish are illustrated^[4]. In a parody of fishing, a type of gladiator called retiarius was armed with a trident and a casting-net. He would fight against the murmillo, who carried a short sword and a helmet with the image of a fish on the front.

The Greco-Roman sea god Neptune is depicted as wielding a fishing trident.

NIGHT SWIMMING

All of us we have thought to go for swimming at night in a solitary beach. In the apartments' beach you can have opportunity to try it. At nights nobody goes to the beach so you can have all the beach by yourself.
